TODAY'S BEST PRACTICES FOR WEBSITE MARKETING

Welcome To The Searchstream

Editorial by Steve Caming

Keeping up with the always evolving technologies and techniques of the Search Engine Optimization industry requires both a purpose driven focus and a visionary streak. It is an environment without a status quo and with very little that resembles standard operating procedure. To be sure, there are now structured search marketing methods with established returns to serve the very tangible needs of the business community. But, in an industry only recently evolved from the tech-equivalent of primordial soup, it's still amazing to see how quickly corporate America has embraced this new barbarian at the gate.

As online spending continues to generate billions in revenue it naturally spins off commensurate amounts of advertising expenditures. For those willing to jump headfirst into the "searchstream" there are fortunes being made, using existing technologies. And that's just a drop in the bucket.

Knowing what works and when it works is both a science and an art. Anyone with a discerning eye (or an appreciation of profit) can just stand back and admire what some of the top SEOs and SEMs have accomplished with their clever, but only temporarily brilliant algorithms. Beyond the entrepreneurs who are adept at manipulating existing technology resources are the visionaries who take it all in and use it to create what's next.

It can all get very technical at times and I've seen seasoned search professionals scratching their heads trying to figure out something it would seem no human mind was meant to know. But once they do figure it out, we can talk to them and they'll explain it to both of us.

This website is not the place to go for the day to day industry headlines and every detailed advance in code writing. It is a place to find an easily digestible overview of some of the issues, tactics, events and people that can help us make the most of what we know and what we're about to find out.

Ultimately, the goal for SEONEWS is to perform a sort of "Information Triage" for our readers; to pick and choose amongst both the obvious and the emerging subjects that explain what in the world is going on here.
